Produktinformations-Management: How DOXAP Orchestrates Your Data

Managing product information is only half the job. Getting it to the right channel, in the right format, at the right time, and pulling orders back into your ERP without manual intervention, is where most multi-channel operations break down.

What Is Produktinformations-Management?

Produktinformations-Management (PIM) involves collecting, structuring, and maintaining a single, authoritative set of product data. This includes attributes, descriptions, media, translations, and categories, ensuring that every downstream system uses the same source of truth. Typically, a PIM holds your master catalog and supplies it to your website, marketplaces, and print tools.

This scope is clear and genuinely useful, but it stops at the catalog. A PIM does not manage stock levels, channel-specific pricing rules, or the flow of orders back into your warehouse management system. When a seller expands beyond one or two channels, the gaps between the PIM and the rest of the stack become costly to maintain.

The Role of DOXAP in Produktinformations-Management

DOXAP serves as the orchestration layer between a seller's back-office systems, ERP, PIM, WMS, OMS, and sales channels. It does not replace a PIM. Instead, it picks up where the PIM leaves off, using enriched product data as one of its inputs. It combines this data with live stock and pricing, applies transformations for each channel, and pushes the result to over 30 marketplaces and e-commerce platforms.

This distinction is important operationally. A PIM provides clean, structured data. DOXAP determines what goes to which channel, how it needs to be shaped for that channel's specific attribute schema, and whether the flow is healthy. This includes direct API connections to platforms like Shopify, PrestaShop, Magento, and WooCommerce, as well as routing through integrators like Lengow when that is the most efficient path. Combining direct and integrator connections in one orchestration layer is not what a feed manager or standard iPaaS is designed for.

The catalog management layer inside DOXAP handles product attributes using an EAV model, along with families, multi-language translations, and media. This allows even sellers without a standalone PIM to establish a workable product data foundation before distribution begins.

Bidirectional Data Flow Example: ERP to Marketplaces and Back

Consider a mid-size electronics distributor. Their ERP holds stock and pricing, while their PIM contains enriched product descriptions. However, neither system can communicate directly with Amazon, Cdiscount, or Worten.

Outbound: ERP and PIM send data to DOXAP. At this stage, the platform maps each attribute to the target channel's taxonomy, transforms values to meet channel requirements (for example, a title character limit on Amazon differs from Cdiscount), validates completeness before the payload leaves, and routes the offer through Lengow to the relevant marketplaces. If a product attribute is missing or out of range, DOXAP highlights the error in the Cockpit before it reaches the marketplace, preventing a rejection.

Inbound: Orders placed on those marketplaces return through Lengow into DOXAP. Here, DOXAP validates and transforms the order data into the format the ERP or WMS expects, routes it to the appropriate warehouse based on stock availability, and passes it downstream. The ERP receives a clean, normalized order, while the WMS knows where to pick. Throughout the process, each Data Stream, catalog, stock, and orders, has a health status (Live, Sync, Late, Down) visible in the Operations Cockpit. This allows an operations manager to quickly see if a flow has stalled without needing to open a separate monitoring tool.

The value here is not just connectivity. It is the per-channel logic applied at each step, along with the monitoring that alerts you when that logic fails.

Key Differentiators of DOXAP in Produktinformations-Management

Configurable per-channel orchestration

Most middleware and iPaaS tools apply shared mappings across channels, which works until channel requirements diverge. DOXAP's architecture focuses on the concept of a Channel of Trade, which refers to a marketplace or platform in a specific country. This means transformations, validation rules, and pricing logic are configured per CoT, not globally. When Worten requires a different category hierarchy than Amazon.fr, these are two separate configurations, maintained independently without duplicating the underlying catalog.

Flow monitoring as a first-class feature

Feed managers and data syndication tools typically reveal errors only after a feed has been rejected. DOXAP's Cockpit continuously monitors each Data Stream, providing alerts and a prioritized Action Center. This allows problems to be addressed at the orchestration layer before they impact live listings. This represents a shift from reactive troubleshooting to operational visibility. You can read more about how this applies to marketplace feed management orchestration in this detailed breakdown.

Consolidated P&L including marketplace fees

Once orders flow back through DOXAP, the platform incorporates marketplace commissions and fees into a consolidated P&L view across every channel. An operations or finance manager can easily see revenue and margin per channel without exporting data from multiple seller portals into a spreadsheet. For sellers operating on several marketplaces simultaneously, this reporting layer connects catalog management and commercial performance. The article on consolidated P&L across marketplaces provides more detail on what the financial view includes.

Pulling It Together

Produktinformations-Management lays the groundwork. What happens to that product data after it leaves the PIM, how it is shaped for each channel, how stock and pricing are integrated, how orders return, and how the entire operation is monitored is an orchestration challenge. DOXAP is designed to address this specific challenge, not as a generic integration tool with a connector marketplace added, but as a commerce-specific platform where catalog, stock, pricing, orders, and reporting function together as one operational flow.
