What Is Datenorchestrierung?

Datenorchestrierung, or data orchestration, is the practice of coordinating every product, stock, pricing and order data flow across a commerce stack so each channel always receives exactly what it needs, in the right format, at the right moment.

The Concept of Datenorchestrierung

In German-speaking e-commerce and operations circles, Datenorchestrierung refers to coordinating data movement across different systems. This involves not just copying data from A to B, but also mapping, validating, and routing it according to specific rules for each destination. The analogy to a musical conductor works well: an orchestra plays the same score, but each instrument gets a different part, timed and transposed for its role.

For a multichannel seller, this is crucial. An ERP stores a trade price, a currency, and a base stock figure. Amazon requires a landed price after fee simulation, a specific category taxonomy, and stock expressed in FBA versus FBM quantity. Cdiscount has its own attribute structure, mandatory fields, and accepts descriptions only in French. No single system in a typical stack, whether it's a PIM, an ERP, or a feed manager, can maintain these per-channel transformation rules and monitor the health of the resulting data flows.

This gap is exactly what commerce data orchestration addresses.

How DOXAP Facilitates Datenorchestrierung

DOXAP acts as an orchestration layer between back-office systems (ERP, PIM, WMS, OMS, DWH) and sales channels, including direct marketplace connectors and e-commerce platforms like Magento, Shopify, PrestaShop, or WooCommerce, as well as integrators like Lengow. Instead of just replicating data or functioning as a passive relay, DOXAP implements three coordinated capabilities for every flow: Orchestrate, Transform, Monitor.

Orchestrate involves deciding which data leaves which source, which channel it goes to, and on what schedule or trigger. Each route, termed a Data Stream by DOXAP, is configured independently. For example, catalog enrichment for Worten Portugal follows different rules than a stock update sent to Amazon DE.

Transform is where channel-specific details come into play. Attribute names are remapped, categories are translated to the destination taxonomy, pricing rules are applied by channel, and media URLs are reformatted. These transformations are not shared across channels by default; they are configured for each trade channel to prevent maintenance issues from diverging requirements.

Monitor integrates everything in the Operations Cockpit, a single screen that displays the live status of every Data Stream (Live, Sync, Late, or Down), surfaces alerts before a channel goes dark, and provides operations teams with a consolidated view instead of separate dashboards for each marketplace. The Cockpit also incorporates marketplace fees and commissions into a consolidated P&L, making the commercial impact of each channel visible without manual reconciliation.

A Practical Example of Bidirectional Data Flow

Consider a European consumer electronics seller whose product master data resides in an ERP and whose marketplace presence includes Amazon, Cdiscount, and Worten, with Lengow managing some of those channel connections.

Outbound: ERP to marketplaces

The ERP sends a product update, a new bundle SKU with a revised trade price and updated stock, into DOXAP. At this stage, three things happen in sequence. First, mapping: DOXAP translates the ERP's internal category code to each channel's taxonomy, such as Amazon's browse-node for Worten's category tree. Second, per-channel transformation: the trade price becomes a channel-specific retail price after applying the pricing rule set for each market; the French description is extracted for Cdiscount while the Portuguese version goes to Worten; the stock figure is passed as received from the ERP, with any buffer logic handled by the WMS. Third, validation: DOXAP checks that all mandatory attributes for each destination are present and correctly typed before the payload is sent out. If a required field is missing for Amazon DE, the Cockpit raises an alert, and that channel's stream status changes to Late, while the Cdiscount and Worten streams continue unaffected.

The validated, transformed payloads then route outbound: some channels via Lengow (ERP > DOXAP > Lengow > Amazon, Cdiscount), others through DOXAP's direct connector to Worten. Both paths are visible in the same Cockpit view.

Inbound: orders back to the back-office

When an order arrives on Amazon through Lengow, the flow reverses: Amazon > Lengow > DOXAP > ERP/WMS. DOXAP receives the order, validates it against the expected schema, transforms field names and formats to match the ERP's ingest requirements, and routes it to the appropriate warehouse based on stock availability. The ERP and WMS receive a clean, normalized order object without needing to understand Lengow's or Amazon's data model. The order orchestration layer then reflects that order's status back to the channel so the customer sees accurate fulfillment updates.

This bidirectional loop, catalog and offers out, orders in, status back, distinguishes orchestration from one-way syndication.

Key Differentiators of DOXAP in Datenorchestrierung

A general-purpose iPaaS or a feed manager can move data between systems. What sets DOXAP apart in commerce orchestration is the combination of features it integrates into one configurable layer.

Mixing direct connectors and integrators

Most sellers already use an integrator like Lengow for some channels. DOXAP does not force a choice; it can orchestrate flows through Lengow where that integrator adds value while maintaining direct API connectors for others. The connector catalog includes over 30 marketplaces, allowing the architecture to adapt to the seller's existing stack rather than replacing it entirely.

Configurable per-channel flow orchestration

Since each Data Stream is configured independently, a pricing rule change for Amazon UK does not impact Cdiscount's stream. As channel requirements evolve, shared or duplicated mappings in less granular tools become harder to manage. DOXAP keeps those rules isolated and auditable for each trade channel.

Operational visibility and consolidated reporting

Operational health and financial performance are monitored on the same platform. The Cockpit tracks flow status in real time, while the P&L view aggregates revenue, marketplace commissions, and fees across all channels. For operations and finance teams working across multiple marketplaces, this consolidated view reduces daily coordination effort significantly, eliminating the need to export data from five different dashboards. You can read more about how this reporting layer functions in the consolidated P&L deep-dive and in the article on centralised marketplace reporting for operations and finance teams.

Next Steps

Datenorchestrierung is not just a feature; it is an architectural discipline. A seller managing five or more channels, each with its own taxonomy, pricing rules, mandatory attributes, and order schema, needs a layer that holds those rules, enforces them on every outbound flow, validates inbound orders, and alerts the team when something goes wrong. That is what DOXAP is designed to do.

If your current stack leaves gaps between the PIM, the ERP, and the marketplaces, and your team is filling those gaps manually or with fragile point-to-point scripts, the next practical step is to identify where data actually breaks down. For a structured look at how DOXAP fits into that gap, book a demo and walk through a live flow with the team.
