Data Syndication: How DOXAP Streamlines Your Commerce Data

Data syndication is what keeps your product catalog, prices and stock coherent across dozens of sales channels simultaneously. Done well, it is invisible; done poorly, it is the root cause of listing errors, oversells and fragmented reporting.

What Is Data Syndication?

Data syndication in commerce involves distributing structured product and operational data, catalog attributes, stock levels, prices, and order updates from a single source to multiple channels. It also includes collecting return signals like orders, confirmations, and status updates back into that same source. This process is more than just exporting a CSV to a marketplace; it requires continuous, two-way flows with specific formatting and validation for each channel.

Sellers managing multiple channels soon realize that each marketplace has its own taxonomy, mandatory attributes, image specifications, and pricing rules. A product title that works on a brand website may be cut off or rejected on Amazon. A stock figure accurate at 9 a.m. can lead to overselling by noon if it doesn't sync back after a warehouse dispatch. What Is Data Syndication? provides a deeper look into this concept, but the operational challenge is clear: you need a system that can handle differences between channels without requiring custom integration for each one.

The Role of DOXAP in Data Syndication

DOXAP acts as a bridge between a seller's back-office systems, ERP, PIM, WMS, and their sales channels, including marketplaces and e-commerce storefronts like Lengow. Its three main functions are Orchestrate, Transform, Monitor, and every data flow through the platform incorporates all three.

Orchestrate means DOXAP controls when and how data moves: which source feeds which channel, in what order, and under what conditions. Transform means the same product record can be adjusted for each destination, mapping attributes to a marketplace's specific taxonomy, applying channel-specific pricing rules, or reformatting media references, all without altering the master catalog. Monitor means every Data Stream (catalog, offers, stock) has a live health status, Live, Sync, Late, or Down, visible from the Operations Cockpit, allowing operations teams to address issues before they lead to customer complaints.

It’s important to note that DOXAP is not a PIM, feed manager, or iPaaS. It fills the gap between these tools, providing a coordination layer that ensures consistency once data leaves the source and before it reaches the channel. For a complete view of how this coverage works across a typical commerce stack, see how DOXAP simplifies marketplace product data flows.

A Concrete Bidirectional Data-Flow Example

Consider a mid-size electronics retailer. Their ERP holds the main stock and pricing record, while their PIM holds enriched product content. Both systems feed DOXAP as Sources.

Outbound: from back-office to marketplaces

When a product is updated in the ERP or PIM, DOXAP picks up the change and begins orchestration. At this stage, the platform applies channel-specific transformation logic. For Lengow, which then distributes to marketplaces like Amazon, Cdiscount, or Fnac, DOXAP maps the product family's EAV attributes to the format Lengow expects, checks that mandatory fields are complete, converts units if necessary, and attaches the correct media references. The transformed data is then sent through the Lengow connector. For a direct channel like a Magento or PrestaShop storefront, a separate transformation profile handles that channel's specific needs, without duplicating or overwriting the source record.

The flow looks like this: ERP / PIM → DOXAP (map, transform, validate, monitor) → Lengow → marketplaces.

Inbound: orders flowing back

When a customer places an order on a marketplace, the reverse path activates: marketplace → Lengow → DOXAP → ERP / WMS. At the DOXAP step, the order is validated against business rules, transformed into the format the ERP or WMS expects, and routed to the appropriate warehouse based on stock availability. The Cockpit flags any order that fails validation or stalls in transit, allowing the operations team to intervene immediately instead of finding out through a customer complaint. Order status updates then flow back upstream to complete the loop.

This bidirectional setup, which includes both outbound syndication and inbound order orchestration, sets a commerce data orchestration platform apart from a one-way feed tool. A feed manager typically pushes data out but rarely manages the return journey with the same level of transformation and monitoring.

Key Differentiators of DOXAP in Data Syndication

Configurable per-channel orchestration, not shared mappings

Many middleware and iPaaS tools rely on a shared mapping model, applying one transformation broadly while adding channel-specific overrides on top. As channel requirements diverge, those overrides can become unwieldy. DOXAP uses configurable per-channel flow orchestration from the start, ensuring Amazon's attribute requirements and Cdiscount's category taxonomy are maintained as separate profiles, each independently versioned and testable.

Direct connectors and integrators in the same architecture

DOXAP supports both direct API connectors (Magento, Shopify, PrestaShop, WooCommerce, ShippingBo) and integrators like Lengow within a single orchestration layer. A seller can connect to over 30 marketplaces through a mix of direct connections and integrator pipelines, all managed and monitored from one location. Combining different connection types in the same platform is rare; most tools specialize in one approach or the other.

Consolidated P&L across channels

Beyond data movement, DOXAP integrates marketplace fees and commissions into a consolidated profit and loss view. Operations and finance teams can evaluate channel performance, accounting for actual costs, without needing to export data to a spreadsheet for manual reconciliation. The P&L reporting surface makes this information available alongside operational flows rather than as a separate reporting tool.

Flow monitoring as a first-class capability

The Operations Cockpit is not just a status page; it serves as the main interface. Every Data Stream has a health status. The prioritized Action Center highlights what needs immediate attention. For teams managing catalog syndication across many channels, the ability to quickly see which flows are Live and which are Late, without accessing each channel's seller portal, reduces the coordination burden that can escalate quickly at scale. For example, fashion brands often face significant catalog volume challenges; how DOXAP handles fashion product data syndication illustrates what flow monitoring looks like in that context.

Putting It Together

Data syndication is fundamentally about reliability: your data must arrive at the right channel, in the right format, at the right time, and the return signals need to reach your back-office accurately. DOXAP is designed to meet these needs. The per-channel transformation engine, the mix of direct and integrator connectors, the bidirectional order orchestration with warehouse routing, and the Cockpit monitoring all support the same operational goal: keeping every channel synchronized without requiring custom integration for each one.

If your current setup relies on manual exports, disconnected feed tools, or an increasing number of one-off ERP integrations, a commerce data orchestration platform may be the solution you need. Book a demo to see how DOXAP aligns with your specific channel mix and back-office architecture.
